The Vortex is an
Arrow Dynamics multi-looping coaster that replaced the first suspended
coaster (the bat) in the mid 1980's. You dive down and instead
of heading right into a loop like most Arrow looping coasters you go
up another hill and into a turn.
The Vortex was the tallest looping coaster when built and had the largest number of loops at six. First two loops then two corkscrew's then a boomerang which flips you upside down twice.
Here's the Vortex exiting the boomerang. After that you head into a helix and then the brake run. All in all the Vortex is a great ride. I really like going into the Boomerang because it looks like you're heading into a brick wall right before peeling off into a loop. The one complaint I have of this ride is that it really needs a paint job bad as the grey/orange track is pretty faded and it looked way cool new.
This is Scooby's Ghoster Coaster a really neat kiddy ride where a car with two people flies around! Instead of a lift hill Scooby's has an elevator that picks up the bat shaped car and lifts it to height. Don't miss this wonderful coaster in the kids area of the park. The lines tend to be a little long as this doesn't have a high capacity but it's well worth the wait. Click here for more Paramount's Kings Island pictures.
