A Farewell To Kiddieland
September 13, 2009
Page Eight
At noon the rest of Kiddieland opened up and the first ride Bond and
I were able to get on was their antique car ride. I'd have to say
that next to Indiana Beach's car ride that takes you over Lake Schafer this
is my second favorite car ride. It was intertwined with Kiddieland's
Log Jammer log flume and offered you some nice views.
Across from the car ride is another classic the Ferris Wheel.
I made Bond promise not to move a bit when we were on this as I am terrified
of the rocking motion on these.
As you can see there was quite a line to get into Kiddieland and it never
ended. It was still here when we left in the afternoon. There
were families coming for a first time and multiple generations of a family
coming to make sure that the newest generation had memories of Kiddieland
to go forward with.
I have always said that amusement parks are special places. Yeah they
may just be a park or just a business but they are important parts of people's
lives; not just the enthusiasts but to all of those who pass through the
gates because of all of the fun and good times that happen there.
