The Little Dipper is a nice little coaster that is just twenty-eight
feet tall and seven hundred feet long.
The Little Dipper is actually a production model coaster. Back in
the late 40's and 50's small parks sprung up all across the country in response
to the baby boom and the Philadelphia Toboggan Company created this design
and parks could either buy the kit or pay a little more and have PTC build
it for them.
There were at least two of this designs built, this one at Kiddieland and
one at Kiddytown which was a competing park about three miles away.
Kiddytown didn't last and that coaster ended up moving to Hillcrest Park
which was a picnic park and when Hillcrest closed it moved up north to Wisconsin
where it is now the Meteor at Little A-Merek-A.
What goes up must eventually succumb to the laws of gravity and come down
but the Little Dipper isn't too far a fall that thrill seekers of all ages
can't enjoy it.
