Yay! It's time to hop on Indiana Beach's oldest coaster, The
Galaxi.
Being thirty-seven years old, which is probably a eighty in steel coaster
years the Galaxi is holding up pretty well.
The Galaxi is pretty much all drops and helices but is pretty fun.
Our first ride on the Galaxi was probably the most terrifying one as we
flew through the brakes and as you can see from this photo the rear car
that Andy was in ended up past where the front car that I was in should
have been. Since no one was there they let us ride through to the
station and then on to a second ride. That ride topped the first run
of the day for terrifying as we went even further through the brakes with
a loaded train ahead of us. I was almost certain that we were going
to hit them. When we finally came to a halt I bet there was maybe
about an inch of the brake fin still in the brakes and the rest of us were
well past that.
It turns out that they were training the rear operator and he was messing
around with the block brake that slows the train so that the station brakes
actually grab and stop the train. In our case we barely stopped so
it was time to hop off and ride something else.
