Calypsos were made by Anton Schwarzkopf and later by Mack Rides.
This one has had a bit of a history as it ran at LeSourdsville Lake Park
outside of Cincinnati from 1972 until that park's demise in 2002. From
there it was sold to Fun Spot Park where it ran until that park closed
in 2008. Every part of the ride has been taken apart, repainted,
reworked and made as mew as possible for the rides new life at Holiday
World. Stephen did mention that Firecracker is going to have a
phenomenal LED lighting package that will really look amazing when the
sun goes down and Firecracker really gets to shine.
After a quick Pepsi Oasis stop and a little taste of Firecracker we were off
to spend some time with Holiday World's star attractions: the coasters.
We used to do our mid winter tours on foot but as much as Holiday World
has grown in the last decade it is a lot easier to do it via kart.
Stephen who has only been with the park for a couple of years was our chauffer and it was a blast telling him tales of Holiday
World from long ago and hearing from him everything that is going on
around the park right now.
Here is a view of The Raven from the bottom of the first drop.
With the threats of winter storms, snow and ice the weather gods smiled
on us with a lovely afternoon to spend in Holiday World.
