2006 Construction at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, Santa Claus, Indiana

With more than a couple of things coming up the plans my Labor Day weekend were cancelled so I was off to Holiday World to get a bunch of rides and of course to check out the progress of The Voyage and Bahari River.  In the last week it looks like most of the work has been on adding the foundation of the track as well as its walkway.

I can't wait to come barreling around this turn and all I have to wait is another two hundred and forty-two days.

You can see the work that's been going on with the track a little better in this photo.

There's also been a little work down in the valley with some dirt being moved in preparation for the Voyage's two tunnels that are going to be down here.

Outside of the work that is going on with The Voyage the word around the park is that the new Tilt-A-Whirl is going to have turkey shaped cars to fit right into the new Thanksgiving section.  That hasn't been announced yet so we'll have to wait and see if we'll be spinning around in turkeys next year.

All of the huge drainage pipes that were in the field between the employee parking lot and the highway last week have been put into the culvert by the Bahari River site and have already been covered up.

Speaking of Bahari River there has been a lot of clearing going on at it's huge site between Bahari and The Wave.  Looking back into there you can see clumps of trees that are still standing.  I hope part of the area is left wild not only for the shade during the hot summer months but I'd love to float around through a forest.

That's all for now.  For the next three weekends Holiday World is closed for private company buy-outs so I will not have any in park photos for updates.  That is unless someone from any of those companies happens to have a spare ticket.  Those weeks are probably the only frustrating part of living here because the rides are up and running but I can't go and get a ride.  If I do see anything interesting from outside of the park between now and October I'll put them up.  Otherwise look for a bunch of up close construction photos in early October as I will be attending the Coasterbuzz Fall Affair and going on a construction tour that day.
