Holiday World & Splashin' Safari Santa Claus, Indiana
2006 Announcement & Construction Update
July 7, 2005
Page Two
Everything you see here is
going to be completely transformed by May 7, 2006 as the new themed
area that is going to be going up hill to the right of this picture
is going to be Thanksgiving.
The really big announcement
and the one that coaster enthusiasts have been frothing over is what's
going to be here. The Voyage is going to be Holiday World's 3rd
wooden coaster and will also be the third longest wooden coaster in
the world. I have to say that when I heard the stats for the Voyage
I was in heaven but after getting home from work and taking a virtual
ride on it about the only things that could come out of my mouth were
a few monosyllabic exclamations. The footers that are seen here
are part of the Voyage's return leg with the lift eventually heading
up the hill on the right side of the photo.
In Thanksgiving there will
be a dark ride where you will have a sort of gun like device to aid
in your capture of turkeys who have gotten lost. In addition to
the dark ride there is going to be an as yet un-announced ride as well
as a sit down restaurant. The plans for the Thanksgiving section
do include using this path to get down to it but it is not going to
be used until there is a ride or two along it rather than just have
a long empty walkway.
The new walkway down
into Thanksgiving is going to go right by the Raging Rapids and yes
they are going to have a viewing platform here.
