2006 Construction Update
December 17, 2005
With all of the snow gone it
is easier to get a look at The Voyage's third hill. From the looks
of it they have about three fourths of the structure complete.
Again there has been a lot
of work on The Voyage's station this week. Will Koch mentioned
on a Coasterbuzz
Podcast a few weeks ago that one of the next phases of construction
was going to be with the completion of the station as its main goal.
From all the work going on with the station I'd say that it is safe
to assume that they have entered that phase. Looking at the structure
you can see where part of the horizontal structure is slanting slightly
to the right. My guess is that's where the station is going to
be as coasters normally have a down slope in the station to get the
coasters headed to the lift via gravity once the brakes are released.
The Pepsi Oasis/bathroom building
is coming along quite nicely with the addition of a roof this week.
While I was out taking pictures the excavator to the right of the picture
was really digging things up. From the looks of it they have dug
up a few of the previously poured footers so maybe something has changed
with the design or they're just needing to do them over for whatever
reason.
Speaking of work there were two
people up on the lift hill laying track this afternoon. It is
nice hearing the pounding of hammers and watching this ride come together
piece by piece. I'll just go stand by the road and watch and listen
and I'm not the only one who does this as many locals either slow down
to a crawl while passing by on the highway or pull off to the side of
the road for a few minutes to watch as well.
Beyond all of the work that is going
on with The Voyage and Thanksgiving section work continues all around
the park. The frames for some of the coaster cars can be seen
outside of workshops, the eagles from Eagles Flight are up by the paint
shop I'd assume for a new coat of paint and as you can see here Sean,
Heath and the rest of Holiday World's maintenance department have been
up on The Raven continuing their work on the re-tracking of the lake
turn.
With next week being Christmas weekend
there won't be another update until after the holiday but I'd like to
wish all of my readers a big Merry Christmas from Santa Claus, IN.
May you and your families have a joyous holiday and a great new year.
Thank you for visiting.
