The Carousel at Hersheypark, Hershey, Pennsylvania

After getting multiple laps on all of Hersheypark's coasters we decided to head outside of the park to check out Hershey's Chocolate World but I shanghaied the guys and got them on Hersheypark's Carousel.

This carousel is the fourth one at Hersheypark.  The first one was added to the park in 1908 and this one was purchased by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company in 1944.

Like all classic PTC Carouseld this one has hand carved horses and Hersheypark really takes great care of them.

When Hersheypark was being redeveloped into a theme park in the early 1970's it was decided to move the carousel from the banks of Spring Creek up into the grand entrance to the park in what is now known as Carousel Circle.  That decision came at the right time as shortly after the carousel was disassembled Hurricane Agnes dumped a ton of rain completely submerging where it used to be.

Disney has Cinderella's and Sleeping Beauty's castles at their parks to act as a central point to welcome guests and set the tone.  As you wind your way up the hill into Hersheypark there is a red and white colored canopy with a wonderful spinning, jumping and fun filled carousel with wonderful band organ music to greet you.  The Hersheypark Carousel sets the tone and it is hard not to have a great time once you have passed by it and ventured on into Hersheypark.
