With the sound of the surf all around, rides whizzing past, laughter, smells of food wafting by and the bell on this strong man game dinging every once in a while the experience that the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier gives is something rare in these days. 



From the 1900's to the 1960's amusement parks were dotted all along America's coast.  Due to changes in society and changes in travel the majority of America's seaside resorts became just a memory.



It is not the mega huge theme park.



But you can have some fun, ride some rides, eat some great food and take a break and head on down onto the beach.



There is a reason where there are famous songs like "Under the Boardwalk" that transcend the ages talking about places just like this and how magical they are for a young couple in love.
