Fun Spot certainly has squeezed a plethora of rides around the giant sky
coaster. The Head Rush is a spinning pendulum ride that takes
guests all the way over as it spins all the way around. This is a
ride I wish I could work up the nerve to try but as quick as it spins
and rocks back and forth the risk of it ruining my day is just too high.
An admission I have to make is part of me would love to give a
mechanical bull a ride and the other part really doesn't like the
concept of being thrown off of something into the ground...even if it is
padded.
Fun Spot is built up against and around the Old Town Shopping Center.
It seems like the two work together to draw people in with rides,
shopping, dining as well as events. Working symbiotically is a
great idea for both.
When I visited
Old Town
back in 2003 Fun Spot had it's own ride section at the back of the
mall where they had the Windstorm coaster and a few rides. That
spot is now part of Fun Spot and is home to the Hurricane Coaster.
Unfortunately the Hurricane was not up and running as they were waiting
for the state to come and inspect it after a overhaul. While I
would have liked to have had a spin or two on it the coaster woudn't
have counted as a new coaster for my coaster count as I rode it at
Branson's
Celebration City back in 2006 when it was known as the Jack Rabbit.
They really had some nice rides out back behind Old Town including this
classic Tilt-A-Whirl.
A side note when I get around to building my retirement home off in the
mountains near Branson, Missouri I want a Tilt-A-Whirl car placed in the
corner of my family room with Book shelves built all around it. It
would be a wonderful spot to go for a sit and read.
