The Ride of Steel is the reason to visit Darien Lake and as the night
came on it seemed like the train got faster and faster and the rides on
it just kept getting better and better.
Despite the bad time at Darien Lake it is a pretty park.
As the sun sank below the horizon Predator's silhouette looked cool.
Get rid of the roughness and the spit and this could be a hell of a coaster.
Sadly it isn't.
For a final photo from Darien Lake the question is how many park personnel
does it take to untangle a seat belt on Ride of Steel?
The answer is six.
Darien Lake understandably is a little paranoid about the restraints on
Ride of Steel as in 2011 a Veteran who had no legs talked his way onto the
ride and as a result of him having nothing for the lap bar to hold
him down with he flew out of the car to his death. Still if a seat
belt gets tangled ten minutes before the park closes just rope the seat
off and direct people to ride in other seats instead of making us all wait
for twenty minutes while six maintenance and management people figure out
how to untangle it.
I had high hopes for Darien Lake being ran by Hirschend Family Entertainment
and with Ride of Steel but sitting here weeks later writing this I really
don't want to go back. Maybe they'll get their act together but thankfully
for the people in the region there are better parks to visit like Canada's
Wonderland, Martin's Fantasy Island (both of which we'll be visiting next)
or Seabreeze Park. Get your credits and move on to somewhere good.
God it sucks having to write that.
