After heading on down to Keyspan Park we had to head back to the cars
to pump a few quarters into the meters. Across the street from our
cars and the Cyclone was this Ring of Fire ride.
I couldn't decide which photo to go with so I posted both of them.
The Ring of Fire sits on the property that used to hold the famous Astroland
Amusement Park. I missed Astroland by a year as they closed in 2008
as Thor Equities which owns the land refused to extend their lease more
than a year. With that uncertainty Astroland closed it's doors and
instead of having a wonderful beloved park to visit Thor brought in a few
carnies and dumped them on the lot.
After filling the meters we decided that the only place for dinner was to
head on down to Nathans. So we put the Cyclone behind us and headed
on down Surf Avenue.
Where else can you walk down the street passing stores, freak shows, arcades,
and rides on the way to a hot dog? Any arcade that has Pac Man, Mrs
Pac Man as well as Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Clyde is a place for a vintage
arcade gamer like myself.
