Unfortunately bigger doesn't mean better, especially with a wood
coaster, and Mean Streak really wasn't that good. So back in 2016
Mean Streak gave its last rider and Rocky Mountain Construction started
turning it into a monster hybrid coaster called Steel Vengeance.
Rocky Mountain Construction and designer Alan Shilke took Mean Streak
and went bigger transitioning the lift hill from one hundred and
sixty-five feet tall to a towering two hundred and five feet. No
more is mean Streak's boring first drop with brakes half the way down to
slow the ride down. Steel Vengeance sends you whipping over the
top and headed literally straight down. It's an aggressive start
for a coaster that is all about being aggressive.
The thing about RMC's coasters that I love is how they don't play
around at all.
With you locked in tightly the rides throw you around like a rag doll
and come as close to killing you with positive, negative, and lateral G
forces.
Sitting out on the point of the peninsula if you get a millisecond
between being thrown up, down, and around there are some amazing views
from the top of Steel Vengeance of Lake Erie.
