Mean Streak you ask?
I know the last time I was at Cedar Point back in 2010 I swore never to
ride this crappy coaster ever again. The thing is everyone who was
at the ACE Con the weekend before said that it was running the best
ever ran so I took it for a ride. Yes the reports were accurate as
Mean Streak is running like it was brand new. The problem is like
all of the other coasters that Curtis Summers designed the layout just doesn't
flow and just seems quite boring to me.
Yes I would not complain one bit if Cedar Point decided to scrap this coaster
but if you have not been on it go this year before the roughness returns.
Last year the big fashionable ride to add at amusement parks across the
hemisphere was super tall swing ride. There were the Sky Screamers
at various Six Flags parks and at the Cedar Fair parks there were the Windseekers.
Having been on Sky Screamer I was curious to see how Windseeker would stack
up next to it?
Windseeker is a hundred feet taller than the one at Six Flags St. Louis
although it didn't feel that tall. Windseeker's seats don't "swing"
like Sky Screamers because instead of being held up by chains the seats
on this ride are supported by steel structure. The only other difference
I can think of is Windseeker has a considerably higher capacity which is
always needed at a popular park like Cedar Point.
So my big question is which ride is more thrilling? Both rides are
really fun although I wouldn't call them anything more than mildly thrilling.
They're more like a modern observation tower as you get an amazing view
of the park all the way up there. I'd have to say that even though
it's shorter Sky Screamer is more thrilling because of hanging 200 feet
up in the air by chains that look like those you'd have on your kids swing
set make it a little nerve wracking.
Even though it's not what I'd call a thrill ride Windseeker was fun and
something I'd hop on anytime.
