Shoot The Rapids at Cedar Point, Sandusky, Ohio

This is Shoot The Chutes, it's Cedar Point's supposed new for 2010 attraction.  Why do I say supposed?  Well it was due to open up a couple of weeks before our visit when Cedar Point opened.  It didn't.  Then when we were at the park rumors spread about a soft opening with the formal opening the next day.  It didn't open.  A month later has it opened?  Nope and there has been nothing to suggest that it's going to anytime soon.

Shoot the Chutes is a modernized log flume.  There used to be a log flume where Maverick now sits and after it was removed the park was lacking any sort of a log flume.  So Cedar Point decided to add a spruced up log flume and name it after one of the park's first water rides.  The problem is they went with Intamin who does not have the best record with flawless rides.  I mean they had to delay Maverick's opening as they had to remove a loop because it was causing undue stress on the trains, Top Thrill Dragster still isn't running regularly (It kept going down again and again while we were there), Intimidator 305 has had to be massively slowed down after a month of operations and so on and so on.  Yeah Intamin makes some awe inspiring rides on paper but they can't get them running as they should.

Personally I think it's kind of sad that Intamin can't even get a log flume, a reliable staple at amusement parks since the 1960's up and running.  So there was no shoot The Chutes for us, or anyone so far.

Mike, Ken and Paul wanted to go get a ride on Maverick and after the previous days rides I was not interested so Bond and I hopped on the cars and took them for a ride.

Bond looks a little crazed there.  He's still in that age where when you whip out a camera he has to make a face.
