Of course I am always looking for a new little vantage to t
ake
photos of coasters and I found that you can get a little look at
Apollo's Chariot from the Rhine River Cruise.
Here is a view from Apollo's Chariot as it crosses the "Rhine River"
(technically a manmade lake) as the coaster works back towards the
station.
This water crossing is the cause of a rather infamous incident that
happened on Apollo's Chariot's inaugural ride. With Apollo being a
Greek god the park decided to bring a living and breathing "Greek god"
to the park to open the ride up. The "god" in question was the
romance novel cover art model and "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter"
spokesman Fabio.
I tend to think in life if someone declares themselves a god that the
real God has a button labeled "smite" and it gets pressed to teach a
little humility.
On the inaugural ride surrounded by a trainload of women in robes and
Fabio right up front the train crested the top of Apollo's Chariot's two
hundred and ten foot drop and frightened a bunch of geese on the lake
below. As the geese took to flight one of them and Fabio's face
attempted to occupy the same space at the same time with dire
consequences. The goose didn't make it and Fabio's face took a
beating.
As a result there are nets around the stretch of water where Apollo's
Chariot crosses the water and there are streams of water that are shot
out over the lake before the train crosses in order to scare away any
waterfowl who happen to might be there well before the coaster passes
by.
I love a good hyper coaster that is filled with plenty of airtime.
Apollo's Chariot has that AND it has the added bonus of working the
hilly terrain into the ride which is a plus in my book. This is a
coaster that I could spend all day long riding.
Unfortunately though like how every coaster eventually has to pull into
the station and you have to get off of it all good things come to an
end.
Coaster Con 41 was my first con. Each year in June I have had to
stay off of social media because it seems like everyone is off at the
con having an amazing time and I'm back here being a parent, working and
all of that normal life stuff. This year I had enough and just had
to go and it was everything I had expected and more.
The rides were amazing. The parks spoiled us to death. There
were laughs. There were smiles. There were screams.
Most importantly it was a week filled with the amazing people that make
up my coaster family. These are the people I normally see for a
day or two a year but this year I had all of them for an entire week.
Being surrounded by my coaster family was wonderful and I can't wait to
Coaster Con 42 for another week with all of you.
