The Monster a new for 2016 Gerstlauer Infinity roller coaster at Adventureland Amusement Park, Altoona, Iowa

The Monster is really a massive game changing ride for Adventureland. They had a good park before but with the addition of The Monster is now a great park. It kind of reminds me of how The Raven turned Holiday World from a small family park into one that coaster enthusiasts travel to from around the world.

Honestly as much of a surprise as this ride is for everyone I have spoken with who has made the trek to Iowa I was in shock that it didn't win the "best New Ride" category in the Golden Ticket Awards.

The Monster has a great drop, all different kinds of negative-g's from floater to ejector to hang time and making it even better is an Immelmann loop.

It is extremely rare for you to hear me praise a trim brake but you are going to hear it here. A trim brake is one that slows down a coaster as it goes around the track. Most of them are added to make a ride less intense.

What's really interesting is the trim brake right before The Monster's final corkscrew actually makes the ride more intense.
