This year has been a tough one. I haven't been able to make it to
many parks due to high gas costs and other circumstances out of my
control so to put it lightly by the time the end of summer came rolling
around I was more than a bit stir crazy. Skipping Iowa's other huge
tourist attractions such as the Field of Dreams, American Gothic House and
the "Future birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk" I headed west
to the closest amusement park to me besides Six Flags St. Louis which is
Adventureland. Which is just outside of Des Moines, Iowa.
I have been to Adventureland once before back in 2000, and while it is not
a Mecca for coaster enthusiasts it is a nice friendly little park.
My first stop was in Adventureland's County Fair section and the Tornado.
Is it me or does it look like the dog is saying "pull my finger"?
The sign is cute but it certainly leaves the height requirement open to
interpretation since there is no clear mark for how tall one has to be.
The Tornado is a nice old school out and back coaster that fits into perfectly
into Adventureland.
