At what used to be the Mickey's Toontown Fair corner of Fantasyland
has been transformed into the Storybook Circus.
At the center of the Storybook Circus plaza is the Circus Train that is
filled with plenty of animals including these camels. Beware though
that they tend to spit a lot.
It gets hot in Florida..."Florida hot" so the circus train and all of it's
interactive water fountains is a very welcome addition to The Magic Kingdom.
Now normally in January I wouldn't encourage Bond to go and play in a fountain
outside but we had temperatures in the 80's most of the time we were there
and on our last day when these pictures were taken it was over 90 making
it more than hot enough to dive right into the fountain for a soaking.
A holdover from Mickey's Toontown Fair is the Barnstormer coaster that's
received a some new theming to fit the circus area. I would have gotten
a photo of it in action but when I had my camera in hand ready to snap a
photo it happened to be broken down.
Here's a cool and wet Mr. Bond ready to head into the future and ride!
Ok time for a few words about the new Fantasyland. I know it's still under
construction but I wouldn't have opened it until it was all done.
With all of the work on the Seven Dwarves Mine Train it has made a giant
dead end with the very popular Little Mermaid at the end of it. That
makes for huge crowd issues in the narrow walkways through the area.
My gut says they rushed anything to open in order to compete with Universal
who has the new Harry Potter themed area that's drawing huge crowds.
Also if you go around Walt Disney World there are hotels going up everywhere
but in the parks they are not really adding that many rides or attractions
including anything with a high capacity. The new Fantasyland is nice
but they actually took out several rides including Snow White and further
back in time the 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea ride (that the Mine takes
over) that both ate up the crowds with a huge capacities. It seems
that Disney is more concerned about building and filling rooms than getting
guests on rides instead of waiting in long lines.
Ok off my soapbox and back to the rides.
