Walt Disney World The Magic Kingdom, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

It has been a long time since I've been to one of my favorite amusement parks in the world; The Magic Kingdom.  I first visited it in 1981 when I was nine years old, came back in 1983, 1991 and the last time in 1997 with Carrie.  In the years since we had Bond and for a long time my Mother has wanted to take her grandson to Disney World for his very first visit.  So when we decided to come on down and visit her and my father for a week this winter it turned into the perfect time for that trip to The Magic Kingdom to happen.

I absolutely love the Monorails at Walt Disney World.  They look cool, they are nice and quiet and if I were building a cities mass transit system something like these would be the backbone of it.  These are the best way to arrive at The Magic Kingdom for the first time but as we were staying at one of the resort hotels for our first few nights in Florida a bus took us right to the gates of the park instead to the Monorail station.

On my previous visits we always asked to ride up front with the operator but since an accident a few years ago where an operator was killed Disney no longer lets guests ride up front.  I understand why but the view was so cool from up there.

It felt so good being outside with the sun on my face and the warm Florida breeze blowing through my hair.  When we left Illinois it was a freezing 19 degrees while in Florida we had temperatures in the 80's and higher throughout our stay.  After this trip I can totally understand why my parents winter down there.  Maybe someday I will too.

Through the gates and under the train station onto Main Street U.S.A.  It felt good be be back home.  Yeah that sounds corny but I had such a memorable time here as I kid I was excited to bring Bond here and relive my first time through his eyes.  Would he love the rides and attractions that I loved or is he such a hard core coaster nut by now that the Magic Kingdom would be a disappointment to him was what I wondered?
