Mr. Freeze has an interesting history as coasters go.
Originally planned as the big 1997 addition to Six Flags St. Louis
and Six Flags over Texas which received a mirror image copy of the
ride problems kept both from opening until 1998.
The year delaying problems stemmed from Mr. Freeze's launch system
that uses linear induction motors to shoot the train out of the
station up to 70 mph in 3.8 seconds.
Premier Rides built two launched coasters for Kings Island and Kings
Dominion using LIM's in 1996 and after the successful "launch" of
those rides Six Flags contracted for four LIM launched shuttle
coasters for the next year.
If you don't know a "Shuttle Coaster" is one that goes forwards and
reverse using the same track. Mr. Freeze shoots you out of the
station, up through the top hat inversion, around the high
overbanked turn before sending you straight up the spike where
eventually the train runs out of momentum and you fall backwards
through the track you just came through.
