For the last thirty-seven years standing high above the rest of the
park the Screaming Eagle has been Six Flags St. Louis' star attraction.
The Screaming Eagle has after the top of the lift a great slow turnaround
that really sets up the rest of the ride. The trains almost crawl
through it really lulling the riders into a sense that the ride will be
easy. As soon as the lead car starts down the first drop the Screaming
Eagle kicks into high gear and there's no stopping it until it's done with
you.
According to Bond there are not enough pictures of me here on Negative-G
so here's one of his photos of me.
John Allen who designed the Screaming Eagle as the keystone of a 42 year
career building coasters was about not just making his coasters thrilling
but also making them appealing to the eye as a work of art.
With the Screaming Eagle's hilly wooded setting and as good a ride as it
is this is my favorite of John Allen's 27 coasters.
