If you make it to Fright Fest at Six Flags St. Louis the Terror Train
is a must. Now some years it sucks like back in 2008 when they took
it serious and had some lame toxic waste zombie VS a police officer motiff.
This year the fun and cheese is back. Now there really isn't any terror
on it so you can take kids and wimps of all ages on it.
The story for this year's Terror Train is this. Back in 1880 Angus
Wynne (who founded Six Flags back in the 1960's - I didn't know he was that
old) cheated Pigman out of his land in Texas (where Six Flags Over Texas
is), Georgia (where Six Flags Over Georgia is) and his favorite plot in
Missouri (where Six Flags St. Louis is) in a game of poker. So the
ride operators (one of whom will say "like" and "Ok"
about a thousand times before you're a hundred feet out of the station)
on the train fix up a "flux capacitor" to it in order for everyone
to go back in time and kill Pigman so that his descendants won't be there
to vandalize Six Flags in the present day.
We are assured by the ride operators that the Train with the "Flux
Capacitor" was nice and safe, at least "safer than riding the
Rail Blazer" stand up coaster that took a life back in the 80's at
Six Flags St. Louis. Yeah I was the only person on the train who got
that joke but it was pretty funny.
Once we went back in time we ended up at the old west town that sits along
the train tracks. Here is where all the fun really happens.
You see everyone gets into the action by heckling the actors. Pigman
held up the train and I made him crack up by saying "More Pork More
Fun". Eventually a big gunfight breaks out and everyone is rooting
for the annoying ride op to get shot. Of course Pigman flees into
the metal building and it blows up.
I don't know if this was planned or not but the whole train broke into screams
of applause when the annoying ride operator did a face plant while heading
back to the train.
It's not scary but it is cheesy and fun and you will laugh. Just make
sure to get in line early as it fills up and sit on the left side of the
train so you don't miss any of the
action.
In addition to a few decorations, costumed characters and the Terror Train
there was a magician/juggler entertaining people during Fright Fest as well.
