Six Flags Over Texas is full of a lot of "firsts".
It was the first Six Flags. It had the first log flume. It had
the first free fall ride and it is the home to the worlds first mine train
style coaster; the aptly named "Runaway Mine Train".
It's a little hard to get pictures of the Runaway Mine Train as it's not
really tall and in the forty-one years since it opened all of the greenery
around it has really grown up obscuring the view of it from anyone who isn't
riding it.
Unlike most Six Flags parks it's not just about rides and games but with
some really fantastic landscaping it's what a theme park is supposed to
do; take us out of reality and put us in a magical place to share with our
friends and family. The could have put this "Rockin' Tug"
type ride and put it on a concrete pad anywhere and people would have enjoyed
it but with some placement over water and with some landscaping it just
makes the experience that much more.
Plus if you want a nice calm place to go and get out of the sun where you
can hear the sounds of a stream slowly flowing by Six Flags Over Texas has
that as well.
