The Maxx Force Roller Coaster at Six Flags Great America, Gurnee, Illinois

The work that was going was the new for 2019 Maxx Force coaster.

Maxx Force is on the plot of land where the Pictorium once stood and it looks like they are going to keep a little memory of the old theater alive by reusing the old entrance.

The Pictorium opened in 1978 as the worlds largest motion picture experience.  It was one of the first Imax theaters in existence and each year they swapped films in it as a new attraction.  My favorite was called "Speed".  I had to spend a portion of the ride with my eyes closed to keep from getting motion sickness.  I'd always open them to watch a section with a coaster and for the section with the Blue Angels flying.  It was an awesome movie and a great way to get off your feet and cool off while spending a day at the park.

Maxx Force was not quite ready for us yet.  The first train had just been put on the track a day or so before our visit.

As you can see there is quite a bit of work left to do to get Maxx Force ready to roll.  The track was completed a week before we visited and as you can see the station is just a shell.

Maxx Force is a launched coaster by S&S Sansei.  I'm not sure what is going on with coasters this year because we have three coasters (the others are Steel Curtain at Kennywood and West Coast Racers at Six Flags Magic Mountain) that are nowhere near completion for the traditional Memorial Day weekend kickoff to the summer season.
