When the first looping coaster opened up in New York at Coney
Island in 1901 the owners of the Loop The Loop found that half the
people could work up the nerve to ride it while the other half would sit
there next to the ride and stare up at those on the ride slack jawed in
amazement.
A hundred and sixteen years later with The Joker you still have half the
crowd brave enough to ride and the rest just standing along the midway
looking up and people are flipped, rolled and spun in the skies above.
Like I said in our
Six Flags Fiesta Texas Trip Report from last year where we tried out
the prototype 4D free fly I normally hate the concept of rocking back
and forth but these coasters are so much fun those fears go away and
Bond and I giggle our way through the fifty seconds it takes to go from
The Joker's start to finish.
The magnetic spin inducing fins right after the lift gets the inverting
started but at the crest of each of these little hills chances are you
will find yourself with your feet pointed towards the heavens while your
head is pointed earthbound.
What is really fun and makes for many re-rides on The Joker is how each
ride even on the same seat is a little different.
