Bond and I had some fun just hanging out and watching all of the testing
to get Goliath certified for two train operation.
I know that I might be the only person who sees coasters as a work of art
but it was nice to just sit down with my boy by my side and to be able to
take in this piece.
Without any riders and without the screams it is easier to just sit back
and enjoy the emotional power that as a mixed media sculpture of steel,
wood and mechanics Goliath is.
I know that I have quite a lot of my life wrapped up in roller coasters
and amusement parks but I think they need to be appreciated for much more
than just a day of fun or a thrill. Stepping back and enjoying a ride
as a work of art is one way people might open their eyes as to how important
parks and coasters really are.
Parks are a place where we are thrilled, where people fall in love, where
young boys feel like men after conquering a big ride like Goliath and amongst
thousands of other things they provide laughter and they provide fun which
are two things everyone in this world could use a little more of.
