This is the cover of a folder that had media info and press releases about Old Chicago.
This a sneak preview ad from December 1977. The sneak preview was of the Old Chicago Fun Factory, which was a huge play area for kids as well as a laser light show, the Old Chicago Screamer; which was an "Enterprise" style ride and the Barnstormer which was a ride where you sat in a plane that circled around a pole and took you up a hundred feet.
I remember the Barnstormer but what I remember was that it never worked. The rumors floating around my elementary school was that they used it for the filming of "The Fury" and it killed a bunch of people. In reality that was just the fanciful imaginations of children as the ride does not even appear in the film and probably was not even on site during filming. Still the rumors made it even scarier to look at.
This is the cover of an insert from the Chicago Tribune advertising Old Chicago's Star Fest.
During Star Fest Gar Puckett, Chuck Berry, Commander Cody, Dr. Hook, Wild Cherry, Black Oak Arkansas, Willie Aames and The Four Tops performed inside of the Old Chicago Fairgrounds.
Here's the back of the Star Fest insert. A portion of the proceeds earned from Star Fest went to the Chicago Tribune Charities.
Here's a poster for Star Fest.
The Four Tops were the headliners for Star Fest and here's the poster promoting their concert.
This is a huge sketch of Old Chicago. I don't think this was used as an advertisement for the park but might have been sold as a souvenir at Old Chicago.
