The Power Surge at Magic Springs Amusement Park, Hot Springs, AR

Right by Big Bad John and X Coaster is one of my favorite non coaster rides, the Power Surge which at Magic Springs is known as "Wild Thang".  This is a photo taken early in the day.  Before leaving we went to take it for a ride.  As we entered the queue the ride operator had just finished seating everyone and checking their restraints.  She then went up to the control panel to start the ride and after failing to get the ride to start proceeded to pound on each and every button on the console for several minutes before giving up and evacuating everyone from the ride.  I tried to capture video of this but was just too much in shock at what I was witnessing to be able to move quick enough.

I'm certain with it being fall and most of the parks regular employees back to school they were a bit short staffed but it didn't look like this ride operator had more than five minutes of training before she was sent to run the ride.

Unfortunately Twist' n' Shout was not up and running so we decided to work our way up the hill to take the Arkansas Twister for a ride.

I do have several complaints about Magic Springs but one thing they really have going for them is just some fantastic terrain and natural landscaping.  It's a gorgeous canvas that if painted properly could be a really fantastic park.
