You get a better view as to how tight this helix is. Jet
Star 2 occupies only an 82 foot by 152 foot plot of land and despite
being able to easily fit into half of my yard it has over 1,900 feet of
track crammed into that square footage. To give you a little
comparison Cannibal despite being 163 feet taller than Jet Star 2 is
only 822 feet longer. Now I know Cannibal has an elevator lift
that probably doesn't count towards track length while Jet Star 2 has a
long spiral lift ride them back to back and you will feel much more
forces in rapid succession on this classic.
Speaking of the Jet Star 2 being a classic it has a little history
behind it. Originally constructed for the Worlds Fair in Spokane
Washington in 1974 it lasted there until the fair closed later that
year. After that Lagoon purchased it for $500,000 and opened it
for the 1976 season.
Over the next forty-one years Lagoon has taken amazing care of this
classic and I can see it still whipping riders around for decades to
come.
Fast forward from the Jet Star 2 and Lagoon has really been on a
building kick with Bombora being one of the many coasters added over the
last decade and a half.
Bombora is a family coaster designed by ART Engineering GmbH of Germany.
As of the current date they have only built three coasters including
this one and it seems that they build everything from sculptures to test
tracks fusing coaster like track or test anything from cars to
industrial equipment. As for coasters go Bombora which is wedged
next to the Lagoon-A-Wave water park is a fun family ride for all.
It may not be the big thrill machine but it is a lot of fun.
