After lapping Sky Rocket we had a little bit more of our exclusive
ride time and Kennywood had the classic Jack Rabbit running for us.
Built ninety-five years ago the Jack Rabbit was built in a day and age where
if you did something stupid like stand up on a coaster well then YOU paid
the price for it. Tough.
In 1920 the world didn't need to be covered in soft rubber in case you fell.,
playgrounds were made of steel with exposed bolts and if you wanted to reach
out and slap hands with a coaster train load of people as they rolled on
past then you could. Even though we have more than a few idiots nowadays
who don't think and ruin simple pleasures for the rest of us Kennywood has
kept the Jack Rabbit old school. For that I applaud them.
Being old school the Jack Rabbit doesn't have lap bars. Instead you
have just a seat belt and a fixed bar that you have to squeeze around to
get in or out of the car.
The Jack Rabbit does not start out by heading straight to the lift as it
uses one of the ravines that traverses Kennywood to give you speed.
The Jack Rabbit uses the ravine for most of the ride as all of the coasters
four dips are into the ravine including its legendary double dip that will
send you flying up into the seat belt.
