After crossing over The Voyage and heading back into the woods Thunderbirds middle third is comprised of several high turnarounds.



One of the reviews of Thunderbird from the Media Preview said that they really didn't understand this part of the ride.



You have the overbanked horseshoe that takes you to the left before diving back to the  ground followed by a rise into the overbanked elevated spiral which takes you to the right before diving back down as well.



I don't know if this reviewer has ever seen a bird of prey like a hawk or an eagle out soaring the thermals looking for its next meal but they circle around with their wings stretched out just riding on the updraft.



You are spiraling around a column of hot air that is rising or at least that is what Thunderbird is simulating here.
