Bond, normally a wave pool lover was a little nervous about diving
right into the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier's "worlds largest
wave pool" as the deep end gets really deep.
He did have fun wandering out knee deep into the surf to feel the waves
slowly wash the sand from beneath his feet as the waves went in and out.
Who cares about sleeping in when you can experience a new day rising
over the waves in front of you.
Bond and I wandered up and down the beach for quite a while looking for
seashells. There were a few unbroken shells and parts of sand
dollars but our biggest haul was the discovery of a sand encrusted
carabineer which helped out later in our trip to secure our Six Flags
unlimited drink bottle while visiting those parks.
We headed back to the hotel in a vain attempt to rid ourselves of the
salt spray and sand (we lost the sand about the time we reached San
Antonio) before heading back down Seawall Boulevard to experience the
Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier for ourselves.
