What looks a lot like a coaster but doesn't make your list? What excludes it?

What doesn't seem coasteresque at all but does make your list? Why is it a coaster?

Is that dark ride at Lakemont a coaster?

Is Rudicoaster at Santa's Land a coaster?

Let's talk about what makes a cred a cred.

For the Dark Ride at Lakemont which was one of three gravity powered dark rides which also include The Haunted House at Camden and the Devil's Den at Conneaut.

I say yes it is a credit for several reasons. It features a chain lift hill to pull it to its highest hight. After the lift the rest of the ride is gravity powered. The only power used is in the effects along the ride.

Most people will argue that is only a dark ride but look at it this way. What if you take the roof off of it along with the walls but operated the ride the same way. Would it still be a dark ride? One other strong point is that on the blue prints for the Devil's Den it described the ride as a roller coaster.

I am easy with powered coasters I am easy. If others count it than I do too. But I won't count a ride like Avatar at King's Isand if someone counts that than they should could every Disko that have ridden.

I counted Blazing Fury at Dollywood as a coaster even though many people don't, and I don't think the park itself does. It's technically just a really big electrically powered lift hill with three gravity-powered drops.

Avatar at KI is not a coaster. It does not coast at any point. It drives me insane that the park counts it. However, they also only count Racer as 1 and I count racing coasters as 2, so it evens out.

Not so much because the ride features a nice drop after the lift followed by a nice pop of air. And the ride is very similar to a wild mouse with hair pin turns with an adverage speen of 10 - 15 mph depending on the temperature.

My thought are pretty simple. I count powered coasters.
Coasters with 2 tracks count as 2.

I haven't ridden any of the gravity powered dark rides mentioned but I don't believe I will count them.

This is such a tough esoteric topic.

Here's another one to throw out there...Superstition Mountain at IB? It was mostly powered but had several coasting sections. I count it as a coaster.

Now Intamin 1st Generation free falls are a tough ones as well. Intamin does not consider it a coaster but it looks like one, just a one trick ride. So should we count these?

Have Fun

Paul

So would you count Superman The Escape as one as it's the same L shaped layout sans lift?

Have Fun

Paul

I wouldn't call it a coaster at all just the opposite of a 1st Gen Drop Tower but I can't decide whether or not to count it until I actually ride it.
