Dorney Park has not just one inverted shuttle coaster (a coaster that
goes forward and reverse on the same track) but sitting right next to Stinger
the Vekoma sits Possessed which was designed and built by Intamin.
Possessed is what Intamin calls a "Twisted Impulse Coaster". It is
twisted as one of the spikes the train travels straight up has a heart line
roll and it is called an impulse coaster as it used a magnetic launching
system that shoots the train both forward and reverse faster and faster
until the ride reaches the maximum speed of 70mph.
As you can see we were greeted by an empty station making it so we could
lap and ride Possessed over and over again.
Bond was the only person in our group that had not been on this coaster.
Now this was my first visit to Dorney so you ask how I got to ride it?
Possessed began its life as Superman Ultimate Escape at the now closed
Geauga Lake/Six
Flags Ohio/Six Flags Worlds of Adventure park just outside of Cleveland,
Ohio. It was one of the few rides from there that Cedar Fair removed
and moved to one of the chains other parks. It was at Geauga Lake
where I added this coaster to my count.
Possessed was Bond's third Intamin inverted impulse coaster and the
first of them to have the holding brake on the back spike operational.
We were going to try to surprise him by not mentioning it but he saw Possessed
run and got all excited about hanging there against his restraints looking
straight down for ten seconds. I know the one at Six Flags Great America
broke and the park decided to leave the brakes there inactive but just hanging
there really makes the ride.
We couldn't get enough of Possessed again we had to grab four or five rides
on it each time we passed on by.
