Dollywood Theme Park, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

As you can see someone is really happy to be at Dollywood.

This trip has been several years in the making.  For years my mother has wanted to do a coaster trip with Bond and I.  It wasn't hard to figure out where to go as she is a huge Dolly Parton fan.  The hard part was figuring out some time where it would work out for all of us.  To do that it took about four years but this year we finally made it out to Dollywood together.

Needing a serious coaster fix and knowing that being 70 she would not be able to keep up with us Bond and I left Mom to work through the park at her pace while we power walked off to hopefully find Lightning Rod running.

As you can see by the big ass grin on Bond's face it was testing and would son be opening for us.

Lightning Rod was added to Dollywood in 2016 and despite being more than a year old there are still kinks to be worked out of this revolutionary ride.

What is so revolutionary about Lightning Rod is it is the worlds first launched wooden coaster.

Everything with Lightning Rod is themed to the hilt.
