For Calaway Park's thirty-six years this has been the big thrill ride.
Vortex; as it is currently named, started out as the Turn of the Century and at one point it went as just the Corkscrew.
In 2005 with a new coat of paint the name was changed to Vortex.
Vortex is an Arrow Dynamics "Corkscrew" coaster.
Arrow Dynamics built the first Corkscrew at Knott's Berry Farm in 1975 and they kept they produced a number of copies with the Vortex being the last Corkscrew model when it opened in 1983.
