Hey it's this way to my cat!
No we didn't bring our cat Kumba along with us to visit his namesake.
Technically the cat is Carrie's as she got it from our buddy Greg. As many
of you know he's a coaster enthusiast that's how Carrie's cat ended up with
a coasters name.
Kumba is all the way in the back of Busch Gardens and when it was built
in 1993 it kick started the Central Florida Coaster Wars as it had been
decades since a new major coaster was built in any of Florida's theme parks.
We all win a coaster war. After Kumba was built came The Incredible
Hulk and Dueling Dragons at Universal Islands of Adventure, Mummy and Hollywood
Rip, Ride, Rocket at Universal Studios, Manta and Kraken at Sea World and
Rock 'N Roller Coaster and Expedition Everest at Walt Disney World all might
not have been here if Busch Gardens hadn't decided to up the ante on thrills.
Kumba was the first sit down looping coaster by Bolliger & Mabillard
and after its 135 foot spiraling first drop the coaster wraps you
around the lift hill with a huge first inversion.
