The Loch Ness Monster roller coaster - The American Coaster Enthusiasts Coaster Con 41 at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Williamsburg, Virginia

It really was hard whittling the photos down to the ones that I wanted to show here and the ones that needed to be cut because with as photogenic a coaster as Nessie is it is hard to choose.

After the first loop Nessie takes you deep into it's lair with a nine hundred and ninety degree enclosed helix.  When the Loch Ness Monster opened the tunnel was filled with mist, sound effects and even a painting of Nessie.  Like most themed coasters through the years the theming elements go away but for Nessie's 40th the sound effects have returned to the tunnel.

Exiting Nessie's lair you hit the rides second lift hill that gives the Loch Ness Monster just a little additional height in order to make the return run to the station.

Before the helix is the first of Nessie's interlocking loops and to finish the ride you have the second of the vertical loops.

Back in the day when the Loch Ness Monster ran three trains all the time two of the three would meet in the interlocking loops making for more than another photogenic moment.
