Old Chicago Today
Straight ahead is where Old Chicago used to be. After the demolition the site was purchased by a car auction and you can't tell that an amusement park used to be there.
All that's left on the site is a street sign. The rides were all sold to other parks and the Chicago Loop ended up at the Georgia State Fair for a few years before finding a more permanent residence at Canobie Lake Park. I really wish that Old Chicago had succeeded but with competition form Great America, with no anchor stores to draw people to the mall, and a management company that openly stated that they did not want to run a park it was pretty much doomed. For one thing if Old Chicago was still open today the winter off season wouldn't be that bad because I could always drive up to Bolingbrook and get my fix on the Chicago Loop.
All Old Chicago pictures on this site have been supplied by the Bolingbrook Historical Society. Please do not use them without permission.. This many people have visited this page since October 1, 2000:
