Old Chicago: The End Page One
On March 17, 1980 without any warning Old Chicago closed the park for good. Here's a letter to the part time employees explaining the closure.
For a while after the park closed the mall stayed open with a few shops hanging on.
Starting immediately after the parks closing they started removing rides and selling them off. Here's the empty area where the log flume used to be.
After a while the remaining shops closed up or moved and there was nothing left to do but board up the park and try to figure out to do with what was called Bollingbrook's "greatest asset and greatest liability".
