Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington, Texas

Day six of our Texas trip found us at the seventh and final park of our journey.

A quick side note before we get into the park.  This is the Tagged Item Return.  One might ask what is a tagged item?  Just remember for a second that we are in Texas.  A tagged item is something like a knife or a firearm that one might not want to leave in a car but you can't bring into the park.  At Six Flags Over Texas the park take these items and locks them up for you and you can pick them up here once your day at the park is over.  This is great customer service and I love the fact that they need to offer this service.

Our final stop on the trip found us in Arlington where it all began for Six Flags.  We were at the one and only Six Flags Over Texas.

With the massive success of Disneyland suddenly other people wanted to make a go at building their own theme parks across the nation.  Some failed like Freedomland U.S.A. in the Bronx or Pacific Ocean Park in LA while Six Flags Over Texas succeeded in creating the mold for which countless regional theme parks were created from.

Opening in August of 1961 Six Flags Over Texas is now in its 55th year of thrilling guests and Bond and I were ready to go and have a great final day of our journey.

I wonder if they got Tidy Bowl to sponsor this fountain?

With it being the traditional Memorial Day weekend kick off to summer we figured the crowds wouldn't be in our favor so we had a few coasters to get to as soon as the park opened before the queues filled up.  Our first stop was to tackle the New Texas Giant.
